Before moving to Folsom in 2002, Scott Edelen wore a variety of hats.

While there are several to list, namely he served as press secretary and deputy insurance commissioner for California Insurance Commissioner/Honorable Judge Harry W. Low, as well as a gubernatorial appointee in the Schwarzenegger administration. “I’ve done a lot,” Edelen admits. “I like moving around and doing a lot of things.” Recently, Edelen also added author to his list of accomplishments. His book Winner! Winner! (available at amazon.com) tells the story of a man who wins the lottery on the same day that he is diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Edelen came up with the idea after his wife was diagnosed with fibromyalgia in 2010. While the experience has been difficult, it has only reinforced his desire to be a positive role model for his two children, ages 5 and 7. “We’re just making sure they grow up to be good people by giving them all the love and support we can,” Edelen shares.

Currently Edelen works diligently as a detective for the State of California, a position in which he primarily investigates cases of insurance and workers’ compensation fraud. The most rewarding part? Getting state resources back to the people who genuinely need them. It’s clear that Edelen has made an impact on many lives and continues to do so.
