Looking to do some fall cleaning?

The Cameron Park CSD, along with Waste Connections, is sponsoring a Community Clean-Up Day on October 6. From 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Camerado Springs Middle School (2480 Merrychase Drive), members of the Cameron Park Fire Explorers program will collect tax-deductible donations, the Fire Safe Council will provide free chipping, and Snowline Hospice will accept donations. It’s the perfect opportunity to clean unwanted junk out of your garage, clippings and tree trimmings from the yard, and properly dispose of bulk items. Have something to sell? There will be a swap meet in the parking lot of the Community Center on the same day from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.; advance fee is $10. If you’ve ever wanted to know about compositing, a workshop from 10-11:30 a.m. at the Community Center will also be offered.

On October 10 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., head to the Community Center for a Health Expo. Enjoy health and wellness vendors, peruse new products, and learn about various options to improve your quality of life. Also, don’t miss the Halloween Carnival and Pumpkin Patch (geared toward ages 2-9) on October 20 at Cameron Park Lake from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Get the kids’ costumes on and come down to the lake for an afternoon of Halloween fun featuring old-fashioned carnival games, prizes, pumpkins and more. Artists and crafters’ registrations are now being accepted for the Christmas Craft Faire, which will be held November 17 at the Community Center.

After-school intramural programs including Tuesday basketball are being offered; in addition, youth basketball sign-ups are currently being taken. Don’t miss out on this year’s season! Try out a new class this month! For the young at heart, we have programs such as ballet, gymnastics, tumbling and trampoline, Cooking with Kids, FUNdamental Volleyball and Taekwondo. Those a little older can choose from gardening classes, Preserving Produce for Great Nutrition, CPR, Hunter Safety, Thai cooking courses and an Ultimate Truffles Class. We also offer dance classes like Cha-Cha-Beyond Beginning, Salsa-Beginning, Beginning Line Dance, Beginning Hula and multiple tap courses. Meditation and Stress Management, Zumba Gold Toning, Tai Chi, Functional Fitness for Seniors, and various yoga classes round out the adult activities.
