Summer has arrived, and it’s time to let your kids and grandkids have some fun.

Send your campers to a weeklong summer camp program: Junior Explorers for ages 6-11 or Teen Camp for ages 12-14. Each week has a different theme with special guests, gymnastics at Tumble Time, adventures to Cameron Park Lake, a special field trip and more. Sports camps include Challenger Soccer at Christa McAuliffe Park the week of June 18-22, girls’ basketball the week of June 18-21, and UK Soccer the week of July 30-August 3. Don’t forget the various art camps, which will be offered in June and July. Plus – new this summer – dance camps (Pretty Princess Dance and Intro to Hip Hop are just a few), Mad Science camps, and a two-week musical theater camp.

Adults – don’t feel left out! Get in on the action with an adult basketball or softball league. Non-ballers can take a cooking class such as Sushi Making 101, Thai Cooking or Ultimate Chocolate Truffles. Is fitness your forte? If so, try Tai Chi, Zumba Gold, Meditation and Stress Management, various yoga and tap classes, Polynesian dance, and ballroom dance courses. Also on tap this summer is an adult art class (held in June) as well as a class on financial education.

For seniors, there is a monthly Coffee, Tea & Friends event on the second Tuesday of the month from 10-11:30 a.m. Visit with old friends or make new ones; there will also be guest speakers to meet. The next event takes place June 12 and will focus on Alzheimer’s and dementia: “Are you having a senior moment?”

The pool (now featuring a waterslide!) will offer numerous opportunities for the community to stay cool this summer. Swim lessons begin June 4, and water aerobic classes are available most weekdays  – mornings or evenings. Learn the basic responsibilities of a lifeguard in the Guard Start Junior Lifeguard program. Don’t miss the Community Luau on July 14; we’ll be co-hosting the event with the Sierra Sharks. Speaking of events, the Foothill Cruisers will host their 14th Annual Car Show on June 9 at Christa McAuliffe Park. For more information, email

Do your kids like horses? Now there are three camp options: Introduction to Horses and Ponies English-Style Riding; Kiddie Horse day camp, and a weeklong equestrian day camp (offered throughout the summer). For the future chef in your family, check out the one-day Crazy for Cookies class or our month-long cooking class.

Cameron Park Lake is open for swimming, picnics, boat rentals and more. The 13th Annual Summer Spectacular will take place June 30; gates open at 2 p.m.
