Looking for a quick bite to eat, I ventured out of the Style offices to Nubbin’s Drive-In.

Situated in Historic Downtown Roseville, this fast food joint harkens back to days of yore. This locally-owned, low-key, ‘50s-style roadside food stand serves up a laundry list of diet-busting American fast-food treats; burgers, crinkle-cut fries, soft-serve floats, slushies, and more are offered each workday from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Since I was not particularly preoccupied by the size of my waistline that day, I opted for a regular-sized Chocolate Shake and a basket of Fried Zucchini. I had made the right choice! The shake, served in a generous cup, was creamy, thick and very, very chocolate-y. In fact, I had sipped over half of my shake before taking a bite of the zucchini; it was that good! Each of the 10 thickly breaded fried zucchini pieces were crispy and non-greasy, a rarity in the fast-food world. The basket was accompanied with a zesty ranch sauce that added a nice bold kick to the mix. All items are made fresh-to-order, and available to go or to eat at the stand’s covered outdoor patio. All in all, Nubbin’s is the perfect place to pick up quality American fast food. Nubbin’s Drive-In, 308 Washington Boulevard, Roseville, 916-782-2084.
