Describe your business. Did you find it, or did it find you?

My mother found this historic bed and breakfast and knew I would love it since I am a passionate gardener and love to restore historic buildings.

What was the first job you ever had, and what did you learn from the experience?

Pulling weeds when I was 10 years old. My brother pulled weeds faster than I did and I was fired…even though I got the roots and he didn’t. I learned that life was not fair, but my job was better.

How are you involved with both the community and your customer?

I have been rescuing animals my whole life, and guests who stay with a pet are always delighted with the unusual extras I provide for their animals. In the community, I have rescued a few cats/dogs and am working with an activist group, which helped to put back the “hanging man” on Main Street and is working toward restoring the building. The “hanging man” had been gone for over a year and was a sorely missed landmark.

What life accomplishments are you most proud of?

Generosity with my time, energy, heart and money, especially when I protest against cruelty toward people, animals and the environment.

What’s your biggest job perk?

Visiting with European and other international guests to find out about their economy and government.

What’s your favorite place to eat out locally?

Zachary Jacques.

Where do you and your family go locally to have fun?

Red Hawk Casino for live Texas Hold‘em.

What’s your favorite local event that you go to?

“Girls’ Night Out” on Placerville’s Main Street.

What’s your favorite local business other than your own?

Taxes Etc. – located on Placerville’s Main Street and owned by Doug Rued. They help me with my yearly taxes and teach me to be a good business owner.

And finally, customer service is…?

The devil is in the details; fix it before it breaks
