Describe your business. Did you find it, or did it find you?

Vito and Nicks is a small family-owned pizza business on the south side of Chicago serving up one of the finest and most delicious Chicago-style thin crust pizzas available anywhere today. We’ve made this great pizza available for the very first time, here on the West Coast. Gordon and I recently relocated from Chicago; we wanted to make sure we had great pizza when we got out here, so we contacted Nick – third generation pizza aficionado and founder of Vito and Nick’s II – and said, “Hey Nick, what do you think about us marketing your pizzas to the great folks out West?” And the rest is history. As the saying goes, “Everybody loves great pizza!”

What life accomplishments are you most proud of?

Becoming a hospice volunteer, and moving across the country to be close and provide care for my mom and my stepdad.

Where do you go when the going gets tough?

I take to my yoga mat or reconnect with nature.

What’s your favorite place to eat out locally?

Cascada (in Placerville) and Sauce’d and Sky Sushi (in El Dorado Hills).

Where do you and your family go locally to have fun?

Gordon and I like to pack up a picnic basket on Sunday afternoons and head up to Lava Cap or Boeger Winery for some great local wine and a little relaxation. You might also catch us up at Poor Red’s on Sunday evenings enjoying the live music and a world-famous Golden Cadillac.

What’s your favorite childhood memory?

I remember traveling up in the mountains of Colorado, with my family on a horse-drawn sleigh in the snow. We arrived at a little cabin where we had a big bonfire, hot cider, outdoor music and amazing barbecue, all under the stars and the lightly falling snow.

If you could be any other profession what would it be?

A rock star.

And finally, customer service is…?

What it’s all about!
