Describe your business. Did you find it, or did it find you?

We offer organic produce, additive-free supplements and hard-to-find specialty foods. I couldn’t live in a place if there wasn’t access to organic food. Eighteen years ago, when Noah’s Ark opened, I found a home.

How are you involved with both the community and your customer?

Co-ops are all about community; we educate people about food. Many of our customers are owners of the business as well as consumers. We love to help our customers eat well.

Why is your staff the best in the business?

They possess longevity, knowledge about our products, and believe in what we sell.

What life accomplishments are you most proud of?

My three children: having, raising and homeschooling them into adulthood; also, organizing and opening the Placerville Natural Foods Co-op.

Who is your role model in business or in life, and why?

My mom. As a single parent and full-time student with two jobs, my mom somehow always let me know I was loved. Her work ethic is strong and her commitment is unwavering.

Where do you go when the going gets tough?

To yoga – it recharges my batteries.

What’s your biggest job perk?

The satisfaction I get in helping solve customers’ problems.

If you could meet someone living or dead, who would it be and why?

Agatha Christie. She taught me to love puzzles, think things through, and expect the unexpected.

What’s your favorite local event that you go to?

“Earth Day Celebration” at the El Dorado County Library.

What’s your favorite local business other than your own?

CandyStrike Emporium – I love butter mints.

If you could be any other profession what would it have been?

A forensic criminologist like in Bones.

And finally, customer service is…?

Rewarding. It’s my life and my love.
