Describe your business. Did you find it, or did it find you?
This business found me when I was happily climbing the corporate ladder of health care marketing. I’ve done crafts all of my life, and a business associate invited a friend and I to a “stamping party.” The rest is history! I became an Independent Demonstrator for Stampin’ Up in 2003.
How are you involved with both the community and your customer?
My community involvement doesn’t heavily revolve around my paper crafts business, but more around my church. However, I do put on “Cards for the Troops” workshops where attendees make cards to send to troops overseas, so that they have cards to send back home (no Hallmark shops in Iraq!).
Who is your role model in business or in life, and why?
Shelli Gardner, the owner of Stampin’ Up. She is a caring, concerned and giving woman, as well as a great businesswoman. She started the company from her living room 24 years ago and has never lost her desire to empower, encourage and support the Demonstrators who are the heart of the business.
What’s your biggest job perk?
Seeing women create something handmade; something they didn’t think they were creative enough to make, and it turns out to be a beautiful something that they are proud of - whether it’s a handcrafted greeting card, a paper craft gift item, or a scrapbook page.
What’s your favorite place to eat out locally?
If you could be any other profession what would it be?
I have no regrets; I’ve had two great careers, plus have owned my own business in two different fields. God is good!
And finally, customer service is…?
Genuinely caring about your customers! As the saying goes: “Do what you love and the money will follow!” I absolutely LOVE sharing my passion for paper crafts with my customers and friends! Sure it’s a business, but the friendships are far more important!
