Enter into a world of contemporary Japanese cuisine.

Upscale, modern, suave and sharp décor define Blue Nami – blacks and charcoals, a gorgeous mosaic mini-tiled wall, and warm lighting that fluidly moves to deep green, blue, purple and red as it entrances the viewer. Modern art deco draws the eye in while silent big screen TVs play in the background. Traditional, Japanese hospitality flows.

And then there’s the food! Blue Nami offers Japanese cuisine with flare and the menu doesn’t disappoint. From sushi and sashimi to tempura, fish, noodle soup and teriyaki dishes, you are sure to find enough variety to tease your taste buds.

This particular night my dining partner and I opted for an appetizer called the Chicken Bomb. Described as a chicken fillet marinated in sweet and spicy sauce, it definitely was “the bomb” and seemed to disappear quickly! After that delight, we headed onward to the main course where I wisely chose the Saba Shioyaki. It arrived in a bento box and was divided between chicken teriyaki, grilled mackerel and a side of seaweed. Can you say divine? Yes, that pretty much sums it up. Fresh, juicy mackerel and sweet, salty teriyaki chicken more than satisfied. My girlfriend went with the Chicken Sukiyaki – a steaming bowl filled with chicken, tofu and vegetables in broth. As the smile on her face widened, she confirmed that her dish was as fabulous as my own.

The staff is attentive and friendly. As the tables quickly filled for the evening, there was no lack of devotion to our needs.

The owner, Joon B. Cho, started Blue Nami in Orangevale in 2001. With its success, a second store was opened in Roseville. His venture into the upscale Palladio Mall in Folsom continues Blue Nami’s delicious journey.
