This month is sure to be festive and crafty! Start things off by going Christmas tree hunting at Apple Hill. Trees will be available until Christmas Eve, and you can even meet the growers. For a list of farms, visit applehill.com.

Need a healthy weekend activity for the little ones? Take the kids to Gold Bug Park in Placerville on Sunday, December 4 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. for  American River Conservancy’s “Little Hikes for Little Folks.” This educational hike is free, but donations are appreciated. Volunteer Tax-Aide counselors are needed for the upcoming 2011 tax season. The program will operate February 1-April 15, 2012. Volunteers are required to work a minimum of four hours per week and provide free personal income tax assistance for elderly and low-income residents in El Dorado County. Every weekend this month, Davey “Doc” Wiser and his crew will lead free stagecoach rides (if weather permits) at the Bell Tower. Grab the kids and take them for a ride!

A grant in the amount of $32,000 was approved for the El Dorado County District Attorney’s office through the El Dorado Community Foundation’s “Older Adult Services Fund.” The grant will help subsidize the costs associated with employing an investigator to assist the DA’s office in bringing justice to those who would abuse, neglect and/or exploit older adults.

The Cameron Park Library continues their PAWS For Reading programs all through the month; on December 10, don’t miss the Gingerbread House Extravaganza – all you need to do is bring your building skills. For more information, visit eldoradolibrary.org.

The Massage Envy network – after their inaugural year of “Healing Hands for Arthritis” – donated $493,150 to the Arthritis Foundation! The money was raised through massage and facial services, individual donations, and contributions from Murad and Wyndmere.

Tour six professionally decorated homes in El Dorado Hills, December 2-3, at the second annual “Homes for the Holidays” event. Proceeds benefit the Assistance League of Sierra Foothills, a non-profit organization dedicated to benefiting children and seniors. For more information, call 916-549-3869.

Don’t miss the 34th Annual Christmas Parade on December 5! This event happens rain or shine at 1 p.m. on Historic Placerville’s Main Street. For details, call 530-621-5885.

Wear your favorite Santa hat and take part in the Second Annual Run with Santa 5K on December 3 in Cameron Park (start and finish at Merrychase/Country Club Drive). After, enjoy a pancake breakfast from 8-11 a.m. For more information and to register, visit cameronparkchristmas.com.

The El Dorado Hills California Welcome Center will hold a Chamber of Commerce Job Forum on December 12 from 8-10 a.m. The Forum will provide job seekers with strategies for conducting a better search, as well as, networking opportunities.
