Congratulations to Rocklin resident Bill Halldin, who has been appointed to the Sierra College Board of Trustees. He will hold the position until the next election in November 2012.
In other Sierra College news, congrats to Thomas Gang, who accepted the position of Associate Dean of Athletics. Gang was the Mendocino College Athletic Director for two years and he earned two “Coach of the Year” awards during his eight years as a football coach

William Jessup University has announced plans for a $17 million campus expansion to accommodate an increase in students. Some of the new buildings will include a dining facility, gymnasium and numerous new classrooms.
Twelve-year-old Rancho Cordova resident Michael Coyne was awarded a $1,000 Kohl’s Cares Scholarship for his efforts to raise money for Autism Speaks. At the young age of nine, he established “Strikeouts for Autism” that occurs during baseball season. Keep up the good work!

The Fountains at Roseville will be the new home to four different stores set to open this fall. Me Gusta Kids, which is scheduled for a September opening date, specializes in eco-friendly clothing and bedding for children; and Crazy 8, owned by Gymboree, is another children’s specialty store expected to open in October. Pet Food Express is also planned to open in October. The Oakland-based chain is a specialty retailer that provides low-cost vaccinations and dog training classes. Houston-based Charming Charlie, a women’s accessories retailer, will open its doors in October as well. Keep an eye out for these great new stores!
Style extends a huge congratulations to Roseville Arts!, who was awarded a $46,000 grant from The James Irvine Foundation. The grant will support the continuation of the creative arts program at Blue Line Gallery, which aims to engage children in the creation of their own art. Bravo!
Partners Mortgage of Roseville has raised over $100,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Their contribution is one of the largest corporate donations that the society has received.
Roseville has added its 63rd park, named in honor of Earl “Bud” Nichols. Bud Nichols Park includes play and picnic areas, and a baseball field. The park can be accessed through the parking lot of Barbara Chilton Middle School.
