Cheeseburgers are one indulgence I find myself giving in to more often than I should.

Something about a juicy beef (or veggie) patty oozing with melted cheese and all the fixings on a toasted bun brings a sense of satisfaction to me. So when I heard that The Squeeze Inn, a burger joint once featured on Guy Fieri’s popular show Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives and known for their “cheese skirt,” had a location in Roseville, I knew I had to get my grub on.

Entering the eatery, I was met with ample space and tables, so there was definitely no need to “squeeze in.” Although busy, the line to order went by fairly fast and I was quick to put in my request for the Squeeze Burger with cheese and an order of French fries. Also featured on the menu were hot dogs, tacos, steak sandwiches, veggie burgers, milkshakes and more.

With entertainment options aplenty, from a foosball table to arcade games, time flies when you’re waiting for your food here. A hodgepodge of sporting equipment including a sleigh, skis, hockey sticks and a surfboard decorated the walls, and toothpicks hanging from the ceiling provided even more amusement!

I could hardly control my excitement when I heard the waitress call out my name, tray of food in hand. My burger was a beauty – with a cheddar cheese skirt bubbling off all sides and dressed to kill in lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles, mayo and mustard; I began to salivate at its splendor. While some patrons enjoyed their grilled cheese skirts as-is, I chose to tuck mine into the burger, giving it a nice crunch and even more flavor. The patty, almost hidden at first by the gargantuan amount of cheese, was juicy, well seasoned and had been cooked medium-well...just how I like it! Food coma in full force, I departed Squeeze Inn dreaming of cheese and plotting my return trip for “the best burger in town!”
