Describe your business. Did you find it, or did it find you?

I do what I call “interior architectural detail and design” for both commercial and residential projects. I can create an entirely new space by remodeling the “bones” of a home when I move a wall or a doorway to create a new layout. I also work with color to create an updated feel. My process is about working together with my clients and the contractor as creative partners to design a space that is personalized and unique.

It found me…when I was about 15. It was then that I created my first floor plan of my dream home; I still like it and would implement it today if I could.

What was the first job you ever had, and what did you learn from the experience?

I worked with Bill Graham Presents as a backstage and dressing room designer for rock ‘n’ roll concerts in the ‘80s. I learned to trust my design decisions and roll with the changes that might occur on the spot. Thinking on your feet is important. Change is the only thing that is constant.

How are you involved with both the community and your customer?

I donate all of my extra building materials as well as gently used appliances and cabinetry to Habitat for Humanity in El Dorado County. As far as my customers, I need to learn about their lifestyle in order to design what will work for them and the way they live, especially with my kitchen designs.

And finally, customer service is…?

Listening to every need and concern of my clients and solving their design issues. I am their advocate when working with a contractor and will be there when they need me every step of the way. I know that a new project or remodel can be a challenging venture, so my goal is to make the process as easy as possible. Creating a unique environment takes planning, creativity, communication and coordination, but it is a process that I am passionate about.
