Dan Adragna understands the importance of not taking life for granted.

In 1995, with his life in ruins after losing his job, his house and his marriage, Adragna found himself facing yet one more trial – a toxic blood infection that left him in a coma for six weeks and resulted in the amputation of both his legs below the knee. These days, however, Adragna is thriving as director of the Special Needs Ministry at Bayside Church in Granite Bay; and he attributes his success to never once letting his situation get him down. “After I realized what I’d gone through and survived,” Adragna says, “I felt so blessed and lucky to be alive.”

Adragna is now a happily remarried father of three, who spends his spare time working with charities to help the disabled. One of his favorites is “Wheels for the World,” which provides wheelchairs for children and adults around the world who are affected by disabilities. “We see people crawl in on their hands and knees, from miles away sometimes, and then see them roll away with a smile,” Adragna shares. “It makes it all worth it.”
