Jeanie Redmond is a powerhouse.

To say she has a positive attitude is an understatement. This former business owner, fashion model, health advocate, local television personality and president of Sierra Community Access Television Channel 2 is busy. “God gave me an abundance of natural talents,” Redmond says. “And...I use them.”

One thing that is close to her heart is her “Souper Group.” She hosts a monthly luncheon for Alzheimer patient caregivers. When her husband Ed was diagnosed with the terrible disease, her life changed forever when she began being his primary caregiver. Although her new role was heartbreaking and exhausting, she decided to give others in her situation a safe place to talk and express their feelings. So, in 2006, she started the potluck-soup lunch with just a few guests. Although Ed passed away nearly three years ago, she continues the monthly meals with now more than a dozen women around her table. Her goal is to give caregivers a bit of time off and some sound advice: “Hang in there…it gets better.”

A mother of three daughters, Redmond is an advocate for women. “Women are so hard on themselves.” Redmond explains. She is determined to change that. When she reprises her television-hosting career and brings Out and About with Jeanie Redmond back to Channel 2 in the next few months, it will focus on mature women, over 50, and the positives of being older. Always remember her motto: “Do the best you can.”
