Describe your business. Did you find it, or did it find you?

I’m a marriage and family therapist in a private practice. I work with individuals, couples and families so they can have happier, more satisfying relationships. I feel like it was a calling. I was always that person in high school and college that people came to with their problems. I had no idea I could make a career out of something that I already loved to do, so when I realized I could I went for it!

What was the first job you ever had, and what did you learn from the experience?

My first job was working at my family’s preschool in South Lake Tahoe. I learned the value of hard work, how precious children and families are, and that everybody feels a little bit better after a nap.

How are you involved with both the community and your customer?

I am involved with the community by providing pro bono work through the Give An Hour program, a program that provides free counseling for active duty military and their families. I also volunteer for Solace for Mothers, a nonprofit dedicated to addressing birth trauma issues. A huge part of my clientele is trauma survivors, and working with people through such difficult times is incredibly rewarding to me.

Why is your staff the best in the business?

Well…I am my only staff member! But I feel that I’m good at my job because I love it, and I do everything I can to stay on top of the latest techniques and research in the field.

If you could meet someone living or dead, who would it be and why?

My maternal grandfather. He died when my mom was 12 so I never had a chance to meet him.

And finally, customer service is…?

All about being respectful and courteous. Treating people with compassion and helping them have a good day because of my interaction with them.
