Describe your business. Did you find it, or did it find you?

I think we found each other. I was happy and content and BORED. I always talked about “one day” opening a salon and then “one day” I was driving past what is now Republic, and I immediately knew the next chapter of my life begins here and NOW.

Who is your role model in business or in life, and why?

I feel very fortunate to have an amazing family to try to model myself after: My grandpa for his humility; my grandma for her generosity; my dad for his determination; and my mom for her unselfishness. If I can acquire just some of what they possess, I will be grateful.

Where do you go when the going gets tough?

I lean on my husband more than he knows. He is my biggest cheerleader, and he always believes in me even when I lose faith in myself. This new venture has brought its fair share of problems and setbacks, and while my husband has let me indulge in the occasional pity party, he also reminds me of why I wanted to open Republic and the changes and differences I know I can make.

What’s your biggest job perk?

That’s easy…the products! We can’t recommend a product to one of our clients until it’s been tried and tested by us.

What’s your favorite place to eat out locally?

Mexquite Cuisine & Tequila Lounge.

Where do you and your family go locally to have fun?

We really enjoy Half Moon Bay. We love the laid-back environment, the great dog-friendly beaches, and they have the best local restaurants serving the freshest seafood.

If you could be any other profession what would it be?

A marine biologist...if only I could have conquered my fear of sharks.

One of the reasons Republic will get people talking and keep people coming back.
