Introducing...Beauty Queen Alumni

Describe your business. Did you find it, or did it find you?

Since I was young, I’ve loved watching pageants to see the beautiful gowns and young women striving to be their best. Little did I know that I would be diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) just after having the courage to compete in 2004 for Mrs. California. However, I believe challenges make us stronger and define us. I contacted the National MS Society, quickly learned about MS, and began promoting my platform throughout our community. This is the reason I decided to unite pageant enthusiasts everywhere. I am often asked, “Who can wear Beauty Queen Alumni apparel?” The answer is anyone who loves pageants. Our goal is to change the perception of pageants and support the women who compete – to honor them for their efforts in promoting community service.

How are you involved with both the community and your business?

It is exciting to stay involved in pageants and important to keep pageant platforms alive, even after the pageant is over, since it is the platforms that benefit the most from pageants. In my one year as Mrs. California 2004, I helped raise nearly $200,000 for MS research and programs. Beauty Queen Alumni was created to unite pageant delegates (past and present) and to reignite that passion to revive those platforms that fell by the wayside after the pageant ended. We are developing a “Platform Page” that will give former and current pageant delegates an opportunity to advertise upcoming charity events to raise awareness for their platforms. Pageants are made up of ordinary girls and women doing extraordinary things in their communities.

Where do you go when the going gets tough?

When the MS pain and fatigue is getting me down, I pray for patience and strength. We attend Rolling Hills Christian Church to keep the word of God in our daily lives. We are at peace knowing how blessed we are to have Jesus by our side to help us through life’s daily challenges.

And finally, customer service is…?

I believe true customer service is respecting customers’ time and money. Beauty Queen Alumni offers something unique and of good quality and value. We remember to treat our customers the way we would like to be treated.
