When Dave Pier was cast as the Executive Director of Folsom Lake College’s soon-to-open Regional Visual and Performing Arts Center, he was clearly in a role meant for him.

A musician at heart, Pier has a 25-year background in community arts, in facets such as sound engineering, house management, performing arts production and directing.

Pier says years ago his involvement in helping the community of Thousand Oaks define a regional arts center led to his significant career transition into arts administration – a focus that’s truly his passion. Since starting in January, Pier has commuted from Modesto while he and wife, Patricia, look for a home. The couples’ two daughters attend college in Southern California. “There are so many beautiful homes in the area.”

“Folsom’s regional center is the fourth art center I’ve been involved with getting off the ground,” he says, noting he most recently worked for the Gallo Center for the Arts in Modesto. “Every few weeks I get a chance to walk through the [Folsom] center under construction and I’m amazed. People are going to be really pleased when they see how nice it is. It’s going to be a world-class venue,” beams Pier. He also brings up a beautiful point, which is – a center such as this really transforms a community and boosts the local economy. That’s music to our ears!
