Describe your business. Did you find it, or did it find you?

Not Too Shabby is a local boutique specializing in painted vintage furniture, home decor, garden, gifts, and things that inspire. Our signature style is comfortable, inviting, and peaceful. This is created through a combination of vintage furniture, new accessories, and unique items. Our goal is to help you create living spaces that can handle real life, kids and pets. I was looking for a new opportunity about five years ago and I saw this store in Folsom. Well, I walked in and I haven’t looked back since.

How are you involved with both the community and your customer?

We not only care about our customers, but we care about our community as well. We are always eager to help local charities and schools through donations, gift certificates to Not Too Shabby for fundraisers, as well as representing our store in the local Turkey Trot. How ever we can help or enhance the community, we take pride in doing so.

What life accomplishments are you most proud of?

I am most proud of raising two amazing daughters who know that reaching for your dreams is worthwhile and attainable.

What’s your biggest job perk?

Our customers are the best perks! Each day is filled with these fantastic, crazy customers who love the store too! It’s so much fun to help them decorate a bedroom, finish decorating rooms, or find the perfect gift for a friend.

What’s your favorite childhood memory?

My favorite childhood memory is re-arranging furniture in my bedroom. I have always loved things with character and I would drag the best things from the house into my room to create an oasis.

What’s your favorite local event that you go to?

My personal favorite local event would be the tree lighting in Historic Folsom; it just makes me feel happy to see all the families out enjoying Sutter Street, and the tradition of the community all coming together to light the tree is magical. The running of the longhorn steers is a close second.

And finally, customer service is…?

Treating every person like a friend, really listening to them as well as striving to exceed their expectations, whether it is helping with delivery, placing a special order, or carrying a piece to their car for them; and sometimes just greeting them with a smile and a cup of coffee to chit chat.
