Describe your business. Did you find it, or did it find you?

Simply Perfect Affairs is a wedding, party and event planning business. I specialize in all types of parties: bridal showers, baby showers, birthday parties for adults, and children. I also do all aspects of wedding design and planning. And to top it off, I also do business events, such as grand openings, corporate team-building events and much more!

Event planning is a passion of mine. For years I’ve been planning community events, friend’s and family’s birthday parties, baby showers, and weddings. This past October I planned my mother-in-law’s 60th Surprise Birthday Party on behalf of my father-in-law. The party was beautiful and a big success! At the end of the party, my mother-in-law asked me why I didn’t open my own business. (Everyone I know had been asking me the same question for years, telling me it was my “calling.”) The next morning, I woke up and looked at my husband and said, “I’m going to do it!” Of course his response was, “Do what?” But the rest is history!

How are you involved with both the community and your customer?

I’ve been helping out with fundraisers at one of our local elementary schools here in Folsom for years. I’ve also supported local sports organization’s fund-raising for baseball and football for even longer! Last year alone, I planned two crab feed fundraisers, one of which raised over $20,000! Also, I just finished three separate kick-off events benefiting the Susan G. Komen “Race for the Cure” the past February.

Where do you and your family go locally to have fun?

We love boating on Folsom Lake!

If you could be any other profession what would it have been?

I attended CSUS and earned a degree in communication with an emphasis in advertising. After graduation, I worked in advertising and marketing for many years. When I got pregnant with my second son Garrett, my husband and I decided our family would be better served if I stayed home and raised our sons. I loved advertising and marketing because of the diversity, and I got to organize all kinds of cool stuff like television commercials, photo shoots and in-store product promotions. It was always different and exciting. That is where my love for event planning started!
