This month our spotlight shines on Jim Simpson, Parks Planning Manager for the City of Folsom.

Always happiest outdoors, Simpson enjoys hiking and other activities that allow him time to roam, explore and create beautiful spaces.

Simpson is excited about the many projects he’s working on at the City. One that will come to fruition this month is the “Play for All” playground. The park will be dedicated on May 1, and enhancements will continue throughout the month. Simpson acknowledges that the budget cuts have made his job more challenging, but is quick to mention that many residents of Folsom volunteer time and resources to make his work possible. For instance, the First Five Commission, comprised of local companies, funded the “Play for All” playground. “Now if I could just hire someone to organize the volunteers!” he says in exasperation. It’s definitely a reflection of our generous community, and what can be accomplished with the greater good in mind.
