Describe your business. Did you find it, or did it find you?

I guess you could say the business found me. I always loved going to doggie stores and walked into one and said to myself, “I could do this.” My husband and I spent the next year researching everything from premium dog foods to hiking boots for dogs until we found the right mix for The Doggie Bag. We are a specialty shop for dogs and dog lovers. We offer canine bakery delights including “doggie birthday cakes,” holistic dog food, supplements, healthy treats and chews, unique toys, dog beds, totes and carriers, float coats and so much more!

How are you involved with both the community and your customer?

We are active with many aspects of our community. We support many local charitable events, and local schools and sports teams.

Why is your staff the best in the business?

One thing that sets us apart is our emphasis on personal service. We are knowledgeable about our products, and our customers come first. We are always available to discuss a dog’s individual nutritional needs and work closely with our customers to make sure the food choice is working well for their dog. There are so many choices in dog food and it can be confusing for people trying to make a healthy choice for their dog; we can help. We also strive to have good quality and unique merchandise. We are continually bringing in new items that we feel our customers will enjoy.

What’s your biggest job perk?

I have three great perks! The first is being able to take our little Schnauzer, Jessie, to work with me. Perk number two is getting to play with all the dogs and puppies that come into The Doggie Bag. And, three is seeing dogs improve by simply putting them on the proper food. That is very satisfying to me.

Where do you and your family go locally to have fun?

We go to Tahoe to ski, hike, kayak and have a great time.

What’s your favorite local event that you go to?

We love the “Woofstock” event held in Rocklin in September. Lots of fun and you can bring your dogs!

What’s your favorite local business other than your own?

The Atrium Salon & Spa in Granite Bay.

And finally, customer service is…?

Our specialty.
