Describe your business. Did you find it, or did it find you?

My pregnancy inspired Chic Baby Rose in the fall of 2006. Frustrated at the high prices and boring baby items available, I started making my own...and – poof – Chic Baby Rose was born! I’ve always loved to create and make things, and now I specialize in all things cute, for kids from birth to 100! Chic Baby Rose is filled with unique, handcrafted items that will tickle your “cutie bone!”

How are you involved with both the community and your customer?

Handcrafted goods no longer have to resemble the “crafty ‘80s” look that we all remember! I feel like a little of my heart and soul goes out with each order I make, and because of that, I’ve given the community a new alternative to the mass produced items at the “big box” stores.

What life accomplishments are you most proud of?

I did the corporate thing, while always knowing that I wanted to work for myself. I started by making rag dolls and my business just grew and grew…and now here I am! I recently moved my workshop out of my house and now run my retail shop while I make/prepare my online orders. I guess I’m most proud of the fact that I did it!

What’s your biggest job perk?

The best part of my job is being my own boss! The reason I started my business was to be able to stay at home with my daughter. She’s almost three years old now and comes with me to the store daily. She is my official greeter and chances are, when you stop by, you’ll get a big hug!

What’s your favorite childhood memory?

I used to love going to sleep at night listening to the purr of my mom’s sewing machine. Creativity definitely runs in my family.

And finally, customer service is…?

Customer service is what a business is built upon. I treat my customers like family and they come back again and again!
