As a Roseville native and a woman in love with her hometown, Krista Bernasconi was always looking for a way to give back to the community in which she was raised.

After graduating from Oakmont High School, she pursued a variety of endeavors such as serving in the Navy, attending CSU Sacramento and working for a decade with Placer County Child Protective Services.

In 2002, Bernasconi ran for and won a seat on the Roseville City School District’s Board of Directors, despite not yet having any children of her own. She currently serves as president of the board. “I personally went through the local school system, and through my job I worked with county kids whose lives had been turned upside-down, so I felt that this was really a way to contribute to the community,” says Bernasconi. Additionally, she helped establish a foundation for the district that raises money to enrich classrooms with technology.

After many years of working and volunteering to help kids, Bernasconi and her husband, Tony, had their own in 2006 – twins Nick and Ella. That same year, she began a new job as director of public affairs for SureWest. Bernasconi says, “I feel like my life is really full with my kids, husband, the school board and my job. I have a lot of early mornings and late nights, but it all balances out and that’s what matters.”
