Congratulations to Jon Lichtenberger for being named sales associate at Legacy at Fiddyment Farm in Roseville, one of the latest K. Hovnanian Homes. Lichtenberger previously opened communities in Vacaville, Galt and Westshore.

Bonnie McAdams, co-founder of the Boys and Girls Club of Auburn, has stepped down from her position after 17 years of service with the organization. The new Development Director, Katie Fuller, will take over the position.

Auburn’s Placer High School students will now gain valuable instruction and experience in various technical careers as a result of newly-offered Mechatronics courses. The Sierra Science, Engineering, Technology and Math (STEM) Collaborative provided tools, equipment and professional development to attract students to technical careers.

William Jessup University in Rocklin will host a spring Preview Day on February 11, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Register by February 4. WJU has dropped its tuition by 2.5 percent and has recently completed part of their $25 million expansion. Call 916-577-2222 for more information.

Pan Acupuncture and Herb will host an Open House and Fifth Anniversary Celebration in honor of the Chinese New Year on February 13 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Plaza del Lago in Granite Bay. Guests can observe acupuncture demonstrations and enjoy refreshments. Call 916-784-1808 for details.

Local leader in foster, adoption and kinship care for area youth, Lilliput Children’s Services, was recently awarded the federal Family Connections Discretionary Grant of $1.25 million to engage family members of foster youth, and help children transition from foster care into permanent homes with relatives.

Area Poet Laureate Bob Stanley and award-winning Grass Valley poet Molly Fisk will kick off the “Outta the Blue Poetry Series” at the Blue Line Gallery on February 4, from 7-9 p.m.

The Auburn Library offers “Mother Goose on the Loose” story time at 10:30 a.m. and Preschool Storytime at 11 a.m. For specific dates, visit auburnchamber.net.

The Rocklin Historical Society recently presented a $5,000 donation to the Sierra College Press to be used in support of publications and projects. The Press was formed in 2002, and its mission is to inform and inspire scholars, students, and general readers by disseminating ideas, knowledge, and academic scholarship concerning the Sierra Nevada region.

The Friends of the Roseville Public Library invite amateur flower arrangers to hear the “2010 Brown Bag Lunch” speaker Jean O’Connor share tips for the novice flower arranger at a free lunch on February 18, from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Maidu Library.
