Goings on in the El Dorado County Foothills Area!

Imagination Theater in Placerville is holding auditions for The Diary of Anne Frank from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on December 12. There are auditions for parts ranging from 13 years-old to people in their 50s. For more information, call Lanny at 530-903-6361.

Through December 18 you can make a difference in the life of a Sacramento child by cleaning out your closet and donating used coats to News10 Coats For Kids program. And if you can’t make it to one of the drop-off sites, you can still give your support by making a monetary donation. For more information, call the coat hotline at 916-321-3362.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Sacramento and Northeastern California is celebrating the opening of its first “The Wishing Place” location on the West Coast. This will be one of three locations in the entire country designed to relieve a child from the stresses of their illnesses and bring joy in a time of hardship. At the grand opening, the foundation granted Wish child Matthew’s dream to go to Disneyland with his family.

The American Legion Riders Post 119 in Placerville needs your help! For their “Our Heroes Garden Project” they need new or slightly used garden supplies or gift cards for stores like Home Depot or Lowe's. Yountville Veterans Home is the oldest Veterans Home in the United States and houses over 1200 Veterans. About 30 veterans maintain the garden year-round. For more information, visit Alr119.com.

Mark your calendars for the Putting Kids First Annual Awards Luncheon on April 30, 2010, at Sun City in Lincoln Hills. KidsFirst is looking for more nominations for individuals who support child abuse prevention and family strengthening efforts.
