Describe your business. Did you find it, or did it find you?

We show people how they can take even small amounts of cash, or IRAs and 401(k) rollovers, and purchase ownership interests in prime pre-development land that is in the direct path of urban growth and desirable for future sale to developers. This time-tested concept of buying and holding land for future sale or development is called “strategic landbanking.” The company with whom we are affiliated, Land Resource Investments, has helped thousands grow their wealth and reduce the effect of stock market volatility on their financial and retirement portfolios by assisting them to diversify into a tangible asset, which has outperformed the Dow over the last three decades!

How are you involved with both the community and your customer?

We are personally involved with several individual real estate investors and small business owners through coaching and consultation. We are members of the El Dorado County Association of Realtors® and the El Dorado Business Connection, with membership in two local chambers of commerce.

Why is your staff the best in the business?

We represent the only company that has been authorized by the California Department of Real Estate to offer pre-development land sales in this manner. Ours is a unique solution for retirement planning that offers hard assets with greater stability, plus the benefits of low downpayments and non-recourse financing. Our corporate team is composed of “go-the-second-mile” people with high integrity, and the two of us feel privileged to be the local representatives of LRI.

Who is your role model in business or in life, and why?

Stephen Covey has had a significant impact on our thinking about business. The profound simplicity of his concepts and his focus on “servant leadership” reflect values we learned growing up.

Where do you go when the going gets tough?

We go back to the core disciplines of a balanced and healthy life: exercise, eating right, tuning in spiritually, and re-focusing on the needs of others.

Where does your family go locally to have fun?

Desolation Wilderness and its many lakes

And finally, customer service is…?

The Platinum Rule: Treat others as they would like to be treated, not just as you would like to be treated.
