For its Christmas exhibit, the Folsom History Museum will present up to 30 vignettes featuring nationally recognized designer and avid collector Dolph Gotelli. For more information, visit folsomhistorymuseum.org.

Congratulations to the approximately 60 students at Kinney High School who won this year’s California State Fair Award for Outstanding Group Project. They created a powered train that’s five feet wide, 20 feet long and about eight feet tall, with steering and brakes.

Do you have a young aspiring writer or artist? Nurture his or her talents by enrolling in the “Becoming a Writer” class taught by published writer and professional artist Dana Robbins. Each child will walk away having written and illustrated a book they can share with others at a book signing.

Congratulations to Folsom High School senior Katie Rose Cunin, for winning the 2009 Folsom Patron of the Arts Scholarship of $2,500. Katie was recognized for her involvement in the choral and drama programs at Folsom High School, the Hawkins School of Performing Arts, Folsom Lake Civic Ballet, Sacramento Ballet and San Francisco Conservatory of Dance. Congrats also to Folsom Lake College students Tisha Smith and Thomas Matzat for winning honorable mentions and 500 dollars each for their excellence in visual arts.

Are you interested in being an advocate for long-term care facility residents and staff? The El Dorado County Long Term Care Ombudsman Program needs volunteers to become certified long-term care ombudsmen. Volunteers would investigate any complaints and work with the staff to resolve problems. The certification course begins November 2. For more information, call 530-642-4860.

Congratulations to Bill and Margie Campbell, Ralph Freund, Martha Downing, Lonnie Nielson and Jack Jossi who will be inducted into the Sacramento Tennis Hall of Fame. The individuals were honored at Legends Night on October 7, for their contributions to the growth and development of tennis in Sacramento. The event was a part of the Natomas/USTA $50,000 Men’s Professional Tennis Tournament.

Congratulations to the El Dorado Hills Musical Theatre for winning five Elly Awards for the 2008-09 season. Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat took home three awards for Overall Production, Costume Design by Christine Martorana and Lighting Design by Louis Hudson. For the production “Mulan,” Julia Adams won Leading Child Actress and Joanna Rehwald, for Supporting Child Actress.
