Describe your business. Did you find it, or did it find you?

Our House Gallery began as a wedding gift. It has evolved into one of the finest galleries in northern California, offering award-winning custom picture framing at affordable prices.

What was your vision when you first started your business and what is it now?

Our initial mission was, and continues to be, promoting creativity.

What is the best part of doing business in this community?

Dorothy said it best in 1939: “There’s no place like home.” Our House Gallery is an extension of our living room. It doesn’t get any better than connecting good folks with great art and music. And, to do it from the comfort of our living room puts it right over the top.

What was you first job, and what did you learn from the experience?

Traveling through the birth canal was my very first job. And I was successful – from day one. What I learned from that experience, and continue to find true today, is: “Life is not easy...It’s awesome!”

How are you involved with both the community and your customer?

We’ve supported the community in many ways, and have received the support back with our first place win as the “Best Custom Picture Framing” in the greater Sacramento area on KCRA’s A-List in May 2009.

What life accomplishments are you most proud of?

I am proud of how often I chose laughter over sorrow and health over illness.

Who is your role model in business or in life, and why?

Paula Mahoney of ERA Realty is my “shero.” Owning a business can be as dicey as a shotgun wedding. You need to know where you come from and where you’re going at all times. Paula lives her life with courage, compassion and wisdom. She taught me to stand tall and hang on to my values no matter what the weather.

And finally, customer service is…?

Knowing your clients’ needs and delivering them on time, at a low price, and with a smile.
