Talk to Judy McCoy and the first thing that hits you is her passion for her profession.

McCoy started in adult education as a teacher of English as a second language in 1976, and is now the principal of Placer School for Adults, a Placer County institution providing all manner of education to adult students.

“Some come to us to finish their high school education, but more come to pursue career goals or for personal enrichment. We have teachers to handle every type of topic. As long as there is sufficient interest in a class, we can put it together,” says McCoy. Despite McCoy’s enthusiasm, the School for Adults has not gone unaffected by the California budget crisis. “We had plans to build a building, but that plan was cut when the budget was reduced. Most of our classes are fee-based, so we pull a good deal of our own weight...but we still need the state funds for big projects.”
