Describe your business.

I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I work with individuals, couples and families. I have been licensed for over 15 years and have a thriving practice, mostly due to word of mouth and the Web.

What was your first job, and what did you learn from the experience?

I worked at a well-known southern California restaurant/bakery/gift shop called Griswold’s in Redlands. My mom was the general manager, and I learned how to be fast, efficient and service-oriented.

How are you involved with both the community and your customer?

There is a clear set of ethical codes to follow in the field of therapy, due to confidentiality among other things. I honor my customers by recognizing their abilities to heal themselves by strengthening their skill sets and teaching them to utilize appropriate coping “tools.”

Why is your staff the best in the business?

I am my staff. I am the best because I am fast, efficient, and dedicated to helping people on their road to wellbeing!

What life accomplishments are you most proud of?

Being a survivor and “thriver” after childhood abuse; overcoming adversity in life; maintaining my relationship with God; being married for almost 19 years; battling life-threatening diseases and staying alive; and achieving my goals.

Who is your role model in business or in life, and why?

My mother, who passed away in 1979, but who continues to affect my choices in business and in life. Even though she has been gone for more than half my life, I still think about how she would manage things.

What’s your hidden talent?

I show dogs – I am a great groomer of our Cardigan Welsh corgis, so good that people come to me to learn how to groom their own.
What’s your favorite place to eat out locally? The Buttercup Pantry in Placerville.

What’s your favorite local event that you go to?

Hangtown Kennel Club All-Breed Dog Show.

What’s your favorite local business other than your own?

Arnold’s in Cameron Park.

And finally, customer service is…?

Everything!
