Describe your business. Did you find it, or did it find you?
I was fascinated with dentistry as a five-year-old when I listened to a group of dentists all day on a rafting trip. After graduating from University of the Pacific Dental School in 1988, I worked in Sacramento for a couple of different dentists. I bought a small practice in Roseville in 1991, and I opened Johnson Ranch Dental in 1995.
Why is your staff the best in the business?
They are qualified, experienced, caring health care professionals who strive for the highest patient care and comfort. The patient always comes first!
What life accomplishments are you most proud of?
I am thankful that I chose Roseville and Granite Bay to start my practice and to raise my family. Roseville is a balanced and diverse city with many opportunities and conveniences.
Who is your role model in business or in life, and why?
All the people I meet who have achieved their goals by their own work and persistence.
Where do you go when the going gets tough?
Home! I always have a lot of physical work to do on my property, and nothing de-stresses me like running the chain saw and the tractor.
What’s your hidden talent?
I am a “people person.” I have a gift for getting people to relax in the dental chair. I love getting to know patients from all walks of life. It is amazing that people are so different and yet so much alike.
What’s your biggest job perk?
Going home at the end of the day knowing I made someone feel or look healthier. I don’t advertise as a “cosmetic dentist,” and I am not into “Hollywood” smiles, but I feel really good about giving people beautiful, natural smiles. UCLA School of Dentistry provided me with excellent technical competence through their cosmetic residency program.
And finally, customer service is…?
It is the key to success for any business. My patients are my customers, and my patients have a choice in where they receive their dental service. I believe in treating each patient as I want to be treated, and that means treating patients “better than they expected.” Having top clinical skills and excellent customer service sets Johnson Ranch Dental apart as an amazing place to bring the whole family!
