Describe your business. Did you find it, or did it find you?

We are a local fitness center that has been around for more than 15 years. We provide our members with excellent fitness equipment, group classes, personal training, babysitting, tanning and massage therapy.

How are you involved with both the community and your customer?

Fit for Life is involved in the local chamber of commerce and events in town. We commonly donate to local charity organizations. My husband is a board member of a non-profit organization for the purpose of bringing parks and recreational services to the local area. We commonly lend our facility for non-profit events.

Why is your staff the best in the business?

We have both the friendliest and happiest staff there is. They work together no matter what the job or task. They are like an extended family.

What’s your hidden talent?

Playing the drums in Texas.

What’s your favorite place to eat out locally?

We love to eat at Heyday Café on Main Street.

Where do you and your family go locally to have fun?

Coloma Park.

What’s your favorite local event that you go to?

Our daughter Sam loves the county fair! And we love the Blues Festival in Coloma.

What’s your favorite local business other than your own?

Annabelle’s Chocolate, and Fat Cakes & Desserts...and many more.

Who is your role model in business or in life, and why?

My role model is my mother-in-law, Barbara Scharber. She has given me the understanding of how important it is to take care of our loved ones and family. She has shown me how to truly love others.

If you could be any other profession what would it have been?

CS: A helicopter pilot!

And finally, customer service is…?

Excellent customer service is treating customers with absolute respect, by truly understanding their perspective and needs…and preferably before they do.
