What's Going on Folsom and El Dorado Hills

Sutter Health has joined the California State Parks “Proud Partner” program with a generous donation that will help to support the Sutter’s Fort State Historic Park. Sutter’s Fort is the first European settlement in California founded during the 1800s.

The Crocker Art Museum is a proud participant of the Bank of America’s Museums On Us program. Through April 2010, Bank of America cardholders receive free admission to the Crocker Art Museum as well as 120 museums in 74 cities across the country on the first Saturday and Sunday of each month. Congratulations to Katie Rose Cunin of Folsom High School, for receiving the 2009 Patrons of the Arts $2,500 Scholarship that recognizes excellence in the arts. Folsom Lake College students Tisha Smith and Thoman Matzat were also awarded $500 scholarships by Patrons of the Arts.

If you are looking for something fun and creative for your child to do this summer, enter them in the Your Place to Play Poster Contest. Starting July 1, kids ages 5-16 can pick up their blank poster at the Community Service District Registration Office or at the El Dorado Hills Library. Entries must be received at the CSD by July 24 at 4 p.m. For more information, call 916-933-6624. And if your child is participating in the poster contest the El Dorado Hills Library will hold a CSD Poster Creation Day on July 14, from 1 to 4 p.m. The library will supply the paper and materials to create an award-winning poster.

The El Dorado Hills Chamber of Commerce awarded five $500 scholarships to graduates from Oak Ridge and Ponderosa High Schools. Congratulations to Tim Chae, Brandon Greenwood, Stephen Matzat, Julia Nguyen, and Alexandra Vaughn.

Stage Nine Theatre in Folsom is offering a “Once Upon a Daydream” Performing Arts Summer Camp for ages 10-18, from July 6-17. Kids will enjoy a two-week intensive program that will expose them to the many disciplines involved in putting on a musical theater production. Camp will culminate in a performance of the original musical, Once Upon a Daydream. For more information, visit www.stageninefolsom.com.

KXTV News 10 has teamed up with Todd Stanley Productions to bring you “Experience El Dorado County.” Premiering on July 5 at 5 p.m., the series will explore the life and culture of the California Foothills, and feature veteran film star Perry King and Gold Country personality Cory Tapia.
