For Dr. Aslani, a smile is not something to take for granted.

As a dentist and volunteer for Faces of Tomorrow, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing medical and surgical services to children around the world who suffer from cleft palates; he recently spent 10 days in Ecuador providing much needed dental services to children before they underwent surgery. For him, it was the opportunity of a lifetime. “To see different people, and a different environment, and how they live and the conditions in which they live, was life changing,” he says. People would come from all over, including deep in the Amazon, sometimes traveling for five or six days at a time, many without the simple things in life that we don’t even think about. “I can’t describe it,” he states. “Something like that you can’t see anywhere else.”

Dr. Aslani always wanted to do something like this and was honored to join such a team. Next January he will travel back to Ecuador to follow up with the children, and hopes in the coming years to be able to travel to new places and different countries. “The children are awesome, and their parents are so thankful, it changes you,” Dr. Aslani says.
