A year ago, young professionals in Folsom had few ways to directly connect with one another. That is, until the chairperson  of the Folsom Chamber Board approached Mark Ferreira, and asked if he would like to lead an organization aimed at connecting young Folsom professionals. Aptly named the Corridor Connection, the organization is “a branch of the Folsom Chamber of Commerce that is meant to include people ages 21-39, who might not be as involved in business circles as they should be or would like to be,” says Ferreira. They host mixers as well as power breakfasts and lunches, which offer members the opportunity to network and gain valuable education on all aspects of various businesses.

With the state of the local economy, Corridor Connection could not have come around at a better time. And the pressure of the economy is one Ferreira himself has felt. He’s also the owner of the Garbeau’s Dinner Theatre in Rancho Cordova, a long-time community favorite, which will shut their doors at the end of May. However, Ferreira stays positive, “We, just like many small businesses in the area, felt the pressure of the recession. But we are optimistic, and looking to the future...”
