2005 Crossbarn Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley

When I was introduced to this Cabernet and its price points, and learned it was one of Paul Hobbs’ projects, I couldn’t help but to get excited. I have been a huge fan of his wine-making projects, which has expanded all over the world. I find its flavors and complexity far superior to anything in its price range of $40-$50. It is a brilliant dark purple and exhibits intense aromas of black currant and blackberry extract, and tannins toward the finish, resulting in a perfect balance. A lot of the same grapes are used in Paul Hobbs’ first label Cabernet, which retails in the $90 range. This 2005 release is drinkable now and likely through 2013. We have been serving this wine by the taste or glass and see its popularity with our customers growing everyday.
