Cederberg Wine Cellars’ Bukettraube

Winemakers and enologists have always said that the best grapes are produced when the vines are most stressed. Cederberg Wine Cellars boasts the highest (altitude) winery in all of the Western Cape at 3,200 feet above sea level. The mountain slopes in which the vines grow are composed of shale and slate. Some soils in the vineyard have duplex soils with coarse sand atop clay. The Cederberg vineyard is the only place in the world where Bukettraube wine is produced.

Cederberg Wine Cellars’ Bukettraube is one of the most unique white wines I’ve had. From the aroma comes an enticing mix of floral, peaches and honey. And, even though the ripe taste of peaches and tropical fruit comes through, the finish ends with a crisp freshness followed by just a slight amount of unexpected spice. This wine is a great partner to BBQ chicken, blue cheeses and spicy curries. The Cederberg Bukettraube chilled is perfect for warm weather by the pool or sipping at sunset on a cozy patio.
