THEN:
Volume One, She & Him
Actress Zooey Deschanel first revealed her singing talents in the movie Elf with a gorgeous rendition of “Baby It’s Cold Outside.” Here, she pairs with indie musician M. Ward for an album of 50’s-throwback originals. It’s innocent, sweet, and proof that this is one actress who doesn’t need to stick to her day job.

NOW:
Anywhere I Lay My Head
Scarlett Johansson
Actress and “it girl” Scarlett Johansson is releasing an album of Tom Waits covers. All I can say at the time of writing is that it’s so crazy that it just might work. But, who knows. Maybe her nightingale singing will turn on all the Waits-be-moaners who decry his gravelly voice. Get ready with your nets, folks…this girl is taking a mighty leap.
