Land, Fiber and Forged Art Exhibit

Event Date/Time

Jan 13, 2012 to Mar 8, 2012

Description

The artists in this exhibit at the Gallery at 48 Natoma are inspired by the expansive creative forces that shape the mountains, canyons, forests, deserts and coast lines of North America.  In the “Land: Fiber and Forged”, two contrasting mediums, soft and hard, will portray powerful landscapes. Merle Axelrad Serlin will exhibit her acclaimed fabric collages while Deanna Marsh will display her metal, stone and kiln-formed glass sculptures as well as hand-beaded tapestries. The exhibit will open on January 20 and continue through March 8, 2012.

In keeping with the fiber theme of the exhibit, the adjacent Community Gallery at 48 Natoma will showcase over 40 small art quilts from the Folsom Quilt and Fiber Guild. Their display will be open from January 13 through March 1, 2012.

The opening reception for both exhibits will be held on Friday, January 20, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00pm.  The exhibits are free and open to the public and art is available for purchase. Hours are Monday to Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm with additional hours, Thursday nights 6:00-8:00pm. Group and free school tours can be arranged by appointment.
