If you consider breakfast to be the most important meal of the day, then Peg’s Glorified Ham n Eggs should be your new go-to diner.
Upon entering, my guest and I were greeted as though we were regulars. After a short wait we were seated and immediately served water and coffee, which were constantly refilled. And this coffee wasn’t your typical diner coffee, either. Piping hot, rich and bold, it was the perfect way to start the day.
The atmosphere was warm and inviting—vibrant without being overbearingly noisy. With almost every seat in the house filled, it was obvious that Peg’s is a family and community favorite.
The menu varied extremely, offering selections native to Hawaii, Mexico and New York, as well as all of the traditional breakfast foods. With so many mouthwatering options, it was hard to make a decision. My dining partner finally settled on the classic eggs and bacon meal, which was served with cantaloupe, homemade toast and hash browns. The bacon was crispy, the fruit fresh and sweet, and the hash browns perfectly golden brown. I ordered the Sierra omelet skillet and can safely say that my eyes were bigger than my stomach. With pico de gallo, pinto beans, cabbage slaw, hash browns, fruit and an omelet big enough for two people, I didn’t know where to start.
