Describe your business. Did you find it, or did it find you?
Music Together is a researched-based, developmentally appropriate music and movement program for children (ages 0-5) and their parents or caregivers. I stumbled upon Music Together classes when my son was a toddler and I was looking for a mommy-and-me type of music class. After two or three classes, I fell in love with the program. Music Together takes everything we know about music development and child development and combines them to make a super effective, super fun program.
What’s your biggest job perk?
Being a guide to the start of many families’ musical journeys. Most parents walk into my class believing they have no musical ability and no potential to teach their children anything about music. But after a few classes, parents report how much music is increasingly woven into the tapestry of their family’s daily activities. Homes that were once void of music-making quickly grow accustomed to the sounds of singing, drumming, dancing, chanting and lullaby crooning. Parents frequently share stories of how tantrum-inducing tasks such as putting on shoes, finishing meals, or leaving play dates are no longer a source of frustration once accompanied by Mommy’s singing. But the best part of all is hearing stories from families after their children have graduated from our program. These children understand the foundations of music, the same way a child understands the foundations of their own spoken language – they just get it. I feel so very lucky to be a part of that!
And finally, customer service is…?
It begins with an amazing class experience each week. We feel privileged that so many families choose Music Together, out of all the other activities available for children. We strive to ensure that every class is well worth the cost. Additionally, customer service is about personal connection. We want folks to feel comfortable and relaxed when they walk into our classes, so we take special care to get to know each of the children, parents and even grandparents personally.
