At Red Hawk Casino, just off of Highway 50 in the heart of El Dorado County, one can satisfy numerous cravings in one location.
With six eateries on site, we were unsure of just what we were in the mood to eat on an evening out, so it came down to a game of rock-paper-scissors, and Pearl was the rock that smashed the scissors. Just down the stairs from the casino games, you leave that “Vegas” feeling and turn the corner to experience the “Far East” in the elegant Pearl, refined and with a certain sophistication like you might find in New York City. Sleek, modern Asian décor serves as the backdrop for the small, but airy Asian bistro serving.
Fresh seafood is one of Pearl’s claims to fame, such as their Braised Abalone, Chili Garlic Prawns, Dungeness Crab, and fresh seasonal offerings; but my friend and I were not feeling like fish, so we selected a classic (turf) variety, our own make-shift buffet if you will, and shared bites (sometimes reluctantly) of everything.
We opted to start with the Phoenix Roll – Pearl’s house egg roll – which was yummy with pork, egg, and vegetables that were still crisp! For my entrée, I chose the Lemon Chicken; my dining partner had the Mu Shu Pork, a classic that didn’t disappoint. The Lemon Chicken was the star of the show in my evening, its truly crispy chicken was coated (not drenched) in a heavenly lemon sauce that was so fresh tasting and flavorful, I almost didn’t want to share. But I did, only because I felt bad for eating most of our Phoenix Roll!
So whether you’re celebrating with friends or just have a craving for oysters and chow mein, Pearl is a great place to…well, chow.
