Congrats to This Month’s Nonprofit Beneficiary: UPPER ROOM DINING HALL

Based in Placerville, Upper Room Dining Hall’s mission is to provide food and other services to community members living under the strain of poverty with dignity and compassion.

Although food banks and pantries exist across the region, there are many people who don’t have the means or ability to turn a bag of groceries into a nutritious meal. Upper Room is the only nonprofit in El Dorado County that offers hot meals—lovingly prepared by a team of volunteers—365 days a year.

The dinners often serve as an entry point for guests who take advantage of the organization’s other resources that are available both on-site and through community partnerships, including personal hygiene, navigation and outreach services, pet vaccination clinics, legal assistance, wound care, and more.

Thanks to the nonprofit’s amazing volunteers, donors, and strong community partnerships, they’ve earned the tagline: “Upper Room Dining Hall is so much more than just a meal!”

“We’re thankful to live in such a generous community, as we continue to expand our services—including the addition of a mobile food truck—to reach more of the underserved in our county,” says Operations Director Karen Stinson.
