Get Away in STYLE: “Suite” Celebration at the Kimpton Sawyer

Sawyer Pool

Though a sunset booze cruise around Lake Tahoe or sipping vino in Sonoma County make for magical girls’ getaways, don’t discredit the benefits of a staycation right here in sunny Sacramento.

Sawyer Exterior

Lucky for us, the capital city is buzzing with good food, an impressive craft cocktail (and beer!) scene, activities aplenty (including Farm-to-Fork Festival from September 7-23), and awesome urban accommodations at the Kimpton Sawyer.

Speaking of the Sawyer, they offer an aptly named “Suite Celebration” package that’s perfect for soirées of all sorts, be it a bachelorette party, birthday bash, or friendcation. Select up to six of your nearest and dearest and get ready to celebrate in style…with minimal planning and decision-making.

The offer comes inclusive of many bells and whistles, but the room itself—the Penthouse Suite, plus a connecting room—is reason enough to revel. Lavishly large with floor-to-ceiling windows, the 1,291-square-foot palace with chic décor and sweeping views of Downtown Commons (DOCO) and Golden 1 Center is what hotel dreams are made of.

In addition to being greeted with five-star service, part of the package is a “sweet” welcome amenity (macarons in a literal rainbow of colors and flavors for my group), a bottle of sparkling rosé (hurrah!), and a fully stocked mini fridge and bar with all the beer, wine, spirits, and snacks you could possibly crave.

Another benefit of booking the deal? Since everything on the itinerary—and everything else you could possibly want to add to it (dancing?! shopping?! bar hopping?!) is within walking distance, there’s no need to designate a DD.

Blowouts at Trü Encompass Beauty

A couple of beers, lots of cheers, and too many laughs later, you and your besties will be whisked off to the connecting salon, Trü Encompass Beauty, for blowouts and bubbles. Who doesn’t love to be pampered and have their hair professionally washed, dried, and styled? Beachy waves in full force, head to Revival at the Sawyer—sited on the hotel’s stunning third-floor pool deck and serving “the Golden State on a plate,” alongside masterfully mixed, seasonal sips. The package comes inclusive of a $100 credit, which can be applied to apps, cocktails, or whatever your friends’ fancy. Finish your evening off by staying for the DJ at Revival, exploring the bevy of other bars at DoCo (Punch Bowl Social is my personal pick!), or heading back to your Penthouse for girl talk, face masks, and a movie marathon.

Sawyer Pool

Rise and shine with complimentary coffee and tea in the lobby, followed by a “Cabana Experience” at the pool (waived rental fee and a bottle of champagne to help with your hangover and get the day-two party started right).

Depending on your tribe’s vibe, you can spend the afternoon cruising through Midtown on the hotel’s complimentary cruisers (PUBLIC bikes), going wine tasting in nearby Clarksburg (the Old Sugar Mill and Silt Wine Co. always impress), shopping with a personal stylist at nearby Identity Boutique, or having a private Pilates or yoga class inside your (soon-to-be sweaty!) suite. When hunger hits, let the Kimpton’s stellar staff take care of your reservations; trust me, they know all the hottest—and tastiest—tables in town.

Penthouse Suite

On your final morning, enjoy bottomless mimosas and brunch at Echo & Rig, a swanky steakhouse with a picture-perfect patio (perfect for people watching!) and menus that change based on what can be picked. Fill up on Belgian-style waffles with house-made whipped cream, seasonal berries, and orange zest maple syrup; or avocado toast with heirloom tomatoes, citrus herb ricotta, roasted shallots, and basil aioli, then sneak back up to your room—or the pool—for one more moment of Zen before saying bye to your best buds—and the most wonderful weekend away you’ve ever experienced.

Packages start at $5,000; email [email protected] for more info.
