Fly High: 3 Airplane Essentials

I love traveling. Whether for business or pleasure, one constant that remains is finding travel accessories that make trips easier. Here are three items I never, ever, leave home without.

“HEADPHONES” OVER HEELS
While most people use headsets with their phones, airplanes open us up to all kinds of new noises, from screaming babies and parents to jet engine roar, and more. My go-to in this category are the Bose Noise-Cancelling Headphones 700. They’re comfortable (I’ve spent 10-hour flights with them on), sound great, and have a battery life that lasts up to 20 hours. What more do you need? $379, bose.com

BE IN “CHARGE”
My phone and all its apps like to suck my iPhone battery dry. Then there’s my iPad, whose battery tends to deplete faster and faster with all the media I watch. Tired of trying to find an outlet that works in airports or on planes, I made the switch to Anker PowerCore III 20K, and I can now charge my phone and iPad multiple times off one full charge. That’s right—no more worrying about dead batteries! Did I mention it’s smaller than my phone, too? $59.99, bestbuy.com

“PILLOW” TALK
There are ample travel pillows to pick from, and though a toddler pillow—or any small pillow for that matter—will work, my favorite is the Rumpl Stuffable Pillowcase. I especially appreciate its compact size, and the fact that I’m just one sweatshirt or jacket away from travel sleep comfort; you simply stuff the Rumpl with a clothing item, and voilà! you’re resting comfortably. $40, rei.com
