Foodie Find: Willow Sweetery in Folsom

Jan 27, 2017 10:48AM ● By Style

Earlier last year, the one and only Willow Sweetery—tucked along Folsom Bouelvard—made a shift from being a sit-down café to solely focusing on the sweet side of things. This was a great decision, for as soon as you enter, their extensive bakery emits a sweet aroma I’ve only experienced at my grandma’s house. On a recent visit, the baked goods (all gluten-free!) behind the glass looked as good as they smelt, making it near impossible to decide what to order. After a few minutes of contemplation, I settled on a Cinnamon Streusel Muffin and Hot Chocolate. I’ve always been very particular about my muffins—for my grandma has set a high standard—but this one exceeded all my expectations. The top (aka, the best part) was pure cinnamon-sugary-crumbly goodness while the inside was moist and warm, putting the sweet in “Sweetery.” To prevent myself from practically inhaling the confection—which, despite its gluten-free label, definitely wasn’t flavor-free—I sipped the rich cup of cocoa. Upon finishing the perfect pairing, I could have gone for more but decided to wait until the next time I needed a tasty pick-me-up, which just so happened to be the following day. Willow Sweetery, 13405 Folsom Boulevard, Suite 950, Folsom. 916-542-7763.
