Free Form Factory Inc. is a manufacturing technology company, currently building personal watercraft (PWC), based in Sacramento. 

Their goals? Making water-crafts more durable, and more fun. 

Jordan Darling, the creator of this exciting business, took some time to tell us the inspiration behind the business, as well as what we can expect from them in the future. 

 

TELL US ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS. WHEN AND HOW DID IT GET STARTED?        

Free Form Factory Inc. is a manufacturing technology company currently building personal watercraft. At Free Form Factory (FFF) we developed proprietary manufacturing technology that allows us to build personal watercraft (PWC) 10x faster and 3.5 stronger than any composite (fiberglass) PWC available today.

FFF turned from an idea to a company in spring of 2014. I was sick of breaking traditional jet ski hulls from rigorous riding and was always confused why no one had reinvented the way PWC's are manufactured, so we reinvented it.

 

WHAT’S YOUR PERSONAL FAVORITE ASPECT OF THE BUSINESS? 

As an entrepreneur, mechanical engineer, and action sports guru, I have always had a passion for creating things or improving what’s available. Starting in 2014 we completely developed a new manufacturing process for PWC's and designed an entirely new jet ski hull from scratch, then built the entire thing by hand. The enjoyment of taking something you have worked so hard on for so many months and failed at it several times, to then finish it and ride on the water for the first time. The feeling of accomplishment is on another level. Work harder than anyone else and reap the rewards.

 

WHAT IS THE ULTIMATE GOAL AND MISSION OF YOUR BUSINESS?          

My ultimate goal, which aligns with everyone in my company, is to continue to disrupt the watercraft industry with new products that not only progress the sport but grow it to a level that has not been seen since the invention of the jet ski in the 1970's. We will not stop until we are on the top of the industry.

 

WHAT’S ONE OF THE MOST MEMORABLE MOMENTS YOU’VE HAD SO FAR?

Memorable moments don't have to be positive right? The day that I try not to relive ever again, that most people never knew even happened, is on January 1st 2015. I was driving to our forming facility to watch the first ever jet ski top deck be formed and I got a call from the owner of the facility, who was upset, telling me to turn around. The mold had imploded on itself, and had cracked in well over 100 places. Needless to say I had a memorable New Year.
