In no particular order...

“As a fan of Belgian-style beers, it’s no surprise that I love all of the house ‘bieres’ at The Monk’s Cellar, especially the Monk’s Tripel. Fresh, flowery and dry with a wealth of complex flavors, the term tripel is used to describe a strong ale; and at 8.75 percent ABV, the name is definitely fitting for this particular brew!”

Loomis Basin Brewing Company’s Outback Jack Recession Ale, a whiskey barrel-aged porter, is awesome on a cold, grey day. It has a nice, smoky hint of whiskey and also caramel. It’s 8.3 percent ABV, but you can’t tell.”

Knee Deep Brewing Company’s Citra Extra Pale Ale is a deliciously fresh, West Coast-style American pale ale with natural grapefruit (i.e. not infused with grapefruit) and juniper. It’s not overly hoppy and a near perfect IPA for any occasion.”

“Besides the darts, shuffleboard and welcoming ambiance (thanks in part to a U-shaped bar and window-covered walls), I can’t get enough of Dragas Brewing’s Stout of Fire, which is a chili milk stout that boasts hints of vanilla, spice and everything nice.”

“Roseville Brewing Company’s Spike Driver is a double IPA with a natural bite of citrusy grapefruit and a little bit of a piney taste. It’s not overly hoppy either, despite an almost 9 percent ABV. Warning: It can be dangerous; the saying at RBC is ‘Spike one, spike two, spike three, you’re out!’”
